boomerang, 2022 & 2024, series in process,
photo etchings, prints on Hahnemuehle fine-arts paper,

IMG_0743.jpg

boomerang is a series of photoetchings air bubbles trapped in the Arctic ice for centuries. These bubbles tell us the story of a bygone era.

When the ice melts the tiny bubbles pop open. It's like a little explosion setting free methane, CO2 and nitrous oxide, three potent greenhouse gases. If you listen carefully you can hear this little cracking or smacking sound.

Taken with via microscope, the images are first translated digitally, then etched on copper printing plates, and finally printed on Hahnemuehle fine arts paper.
